The Keuka College community congratulates Tom Drumm ’15, who is now the youngest person to oversee a major U.S. port of call at age 33.

Drumm parlayed his Keuka College experience – studying political science and history and completing Field Period internships with members of Congress – into a successful run for Oswego County Legislature shortly after graduating.

“Keuka College gave me the confidence and knowledge to be able to make a political run at age 22, and it really got me to where I am right now.”

Since then, Drumm has held a series of progressively responsible roles in public service, including as a district organizer for Speak Out CNY and a regional director of intergovernmental affairs for the Office of the New York State Attorney General.

In his new role as CEO of the Port of Oswego Authority, Drumm will lead a deepwater port that has been an important nexus of transit and trade since the 17th century and that currently handles over one million tons of cargo annually. Looking ahead, the port is poised to be a key partner in the $100 billion Micron project in nearby Clay.

“We have the opportunity to be a major piece in that supply chain,” said Drumm, who is a fifth-generation Oswegoan. “We’re going to raise the profile of the port by making sure we’re in the right rooms and having the right conversations.”

As always, Keuka College wishes Tom Drumm every success as he sets out to do great things for upstate New York.
