Over the course of my Field Period™, I picked up the basics of each instrument. Not only was I able to help out more, but I was able to make the connection between neuropsychology and music, which interests me in a future profession as a school psychologist.
I enjoyed surrounding myself with students who were passionate about music everyday. I was able to see the gears turning in their heads as they tried to learn everything that instrumental music asks them to. I was also able to learn how music department programs benefit students developmentally and therefore understand the importance of preserving these programs against future cuts or reductions.
